Disruption by technology. Impacts on politics, economics and society

by Maria Bianca Armiento

This European Parliament Research Service study examines how technology can have a disruptive effect on several aspects of our lives. In particular “disruption by technology” is analysed with regard to the economic system, the military and defence, democratic debates, social norms, values and identities, international relations, laws and regulations, with a focus on the surveillance through technology (a case in which all aforementioned forms of disruption converge).
